STATESBORO, GA – Maryland softball swept Rider, going 2-0 against the university in the Hail Southern Classic. The Terps defeated the Broncos, 5-0, at Eagle Field at GS Softball Complex on Saturday. The Terps are 9-11 heading into their final game in the tournament against Georgia Southern later today.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. Mazie MacFarlane and Caitlyn Cornwell walked with two outs, and Matti Benson reached base on a throwing error to second base. The error allowed MacFarlane to score. Then Sydney Lewis and Same Bean uncorked back-to-back home runs, giving the Terps a 5-0 advantage.

Keira Bucher pitched the remaining three innings, where she struck out five and surrendered just one hit. She earned her fourth career win. Ebaugh and Bucher combined for a shutout.
