
Terps Fall To No. 25 Virginia On Walk-Off Hit, 4-3

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Virginia's Macee Eaton drove in the game-winning run with a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning as Maryland softball was defeated by No. 25 Virginia at Palmer Park on Tuesday evening. Maryland is now 15-19 on the season heading into its three-game series against Indiana.
Tied at 3-3, Sydney Hartgrove singled and advanced to second on a fielding error. Eaton then brought her home with the clutch knock. She finished 2-for-3 in the contest. Virginia improved to 26-10 overall.
Julia Shearer had a strong outing, allowing only three runs and striking out three batters. She pitched a scoreless game through the first two innings before allowing a three-run home run in the third. However, she shut out the Cavaliers batters for the final three innings she pitched.
Sam Bean plated the Terps' first run of the game in the first inning. She hit an RBI single, giving them a 1-0 lead.
