
Terps Lose Series Finale At Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, IL – Maryland baseball lost its series finale, 11-0, against Illinois at Illinois Field on Sunday afternoon. Maryland is now 14-18 overall and 3-9 in the Big Ten heading into its midweek matchup at Delaware on April 9.
Illinois (17-11, 6-5 Big Ten) used a five-run opening inning to supply their lead. It later added one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before hitting a three-run homer in the seventh to end the game. Maryland was unable to plate a run despite making consistent contact and having runners in scoring position.
Liam Willson, Elijah Lambros and Eddie Hacopian were the lone Terps to record hits for the Terps. Willson went 2-for-2, recording multiple hits for the second time this season.
Cristofer Cespedes pitched the remaining 2.1 innings, tying his season-high with four strikeouts.
Jake Yeager made the start on the mound and pitched in 3.1 innings. He surrendered three earned runs on five hits. Andrew Koshy pitched an inning of relief.
