Terps Fall To Indiana In High-Scoring Affair

BLOOMINGTON, IN  – In a game with a combined 30 runs, Maryland softball was defeated by Indiana, 20-10, in five innings at Andy Mohr Field on Sunday. The game was delayed during the fourth inning due to rain and ended at 11:27 p.m. ET, after starting at 7 p.m., on Big Ten Network.

The Terps led 8-4 at the time of the delay, but Indiana (24-10, 4-6 Big Ten) plated 15 runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Maryland is now 15-20 overall and 3-8 in Big Ten play.

Sydney Lewis scored two of Maryland's three runs in the top of the first with a two-run homer. It was her 14th career home run of her career, including her eighth of the season. The junior has now doubled her home run total from a season ago.

Lewis was one of four Terps to record multiple RBIs. Sam Bean, Matti Benson, Madison Runyan and Julia Shearer were the others. Bean and Benson both drove in their runs with a pair of walks. Maryland drew 15 walks as a team, including 11 against former All-American All-American Brianna Copeland.
