Terps Secure 13-11 Win Over Rutgers On Senior Day

COLLEGE PARK, MD – In a game that featured six lead changes, Maryland baseball closed out its 2025 season with a 13-11 win in game three of its series against Rutgers at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Saturday's Senior Day. Maryland finished the season 27-29 overall and 12-18 in Big Ten play.
Trailing Rutgers (28-27, 15-15 Big Ten) 10-9 entering the bottom of the eighth, Maryland secured its victory by walking in three runs and bringing home another on a hit-by-pitch. Andrew Koshy earned the first save of his Maryland career by allowing one run on one hit in the ninth.
Eddie Hacopian finished with 10 home runs this season, which is his single-season career high. He also finished with 27 career homers, which is a mark tied for the 15th most in program history. The senior went 2-for-3 in the contest with four RBIs, also adding to his career marks in hits, runs and RBIs.
Elijah Lambros was the final of four Terps to go yard. He hit a three-run shot that tied the game in the second. It was the 26th of his career and the sixth of the season. He came around to score twice.
Maryland has hit 94 home runs this season, the third-most for a single season in program history. The program record is 137 homers in 2022.
Omar Melendez earned the start on the mound before Jack Wren made a relief appearance. Wren pitched 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out two and giving up just one hit. Logan Koester, Jake Yeager and Cristofer Cespedes also made relief appearances, all pitching an inning apiece.

Alex Calarco also hit a solo home run in the contest. His was 19th of the season, 22nd as a Terp and 26th in his career — including his four at Northwestern in 2023. The senior's 19 homers this season are a program record for a catcher and rank tied for sixth-most for a single season overall. Calarco went 2-for-5 in the ballgame, adding a double.B1| First pitch swangin!!

- Eddie Hacopian tallied two hits, giving him 231 in his three-year Maryland career. He ranks tied for fifth in program history with Dan Melvin (2004-07). Hacopian is one of just 14 players in Maryland history to record 200+ knocks.
- Alex Calarco has 19 home runs this season. He tied for sixth in single-season program history with John McCurdy (2002) and Alex Pauley (1985). He holds the program record for single-season home runs by a catcher.
