M Club Announces 2025 Rodman Postgraduate Scholarships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Ten Terrapins have been awarded M Club Rodman Postgraduate Scholarships in 2025. The M Club awards $5,000 scholarships yearly to former student-athletes looking to continue their education post-graduation. Overall, the M Club awarded $50,000 in postgraduate scholarship support. A record 33 Terps applied for the scholarship this year.
This year's recipients are: Tasha Brozowski (Gymnastics '25), Victoria Gatzendorfer (Gymnastics '25), James Heffley (Baseball '24), Zoe Huang (Volleyball '25), Kirstin Nichols (Cross Country/Track & Field '24), Sam O'Brian (Wrestling '25), Karla Elena Vazquez Setzer (Women's Golf '24), Maura Verleg (Field Hockey '24), Hannah Warther (Women's Lacrosse '21) and Ellie Watson (Volleyball '24).
These former student-athletes have demonstrated excellence in athletics and academics at the University of Maryland. They received at least one varsity letter from the university and have earned a bachelor's degree from the university. They must not be an active member of a college athletics roster for the 2025-26 academic year. They must have applied to (or enrolled in) a graduate program in an accredited institution for the purpose of pursuing an advanced degree.

Brozowski, a native of Angier, NC, was a member of the Maryland gymnastics team from 2022-25. She was named a WCGA Scholastic All-American, Academic All-Big Ten and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She competed on bars with the Terrapins, helping them to four NCAA Regionals in her time as a Terp. She was a member of Kubasik First Impact, SAAC, Gossett Fellows, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pre-Health Terps, Interpship Academy, and Leadership Academy. Brozowski graduated from Maryland in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science. Brozowski is pursuing a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Shenandoah University in Virginia.

Gatzendorfer, a native of Marvin, NC, was a four-year letterwinner with the Maryland gymnastics program from 2022-25. She was a WCGA Scholastic All-American at Maryland. She competed on bars and beam and helped the Terps to four NCAA Regionals. At Maryland, she has been the Leadership Council Chair of the Sports Management Program, a Gossett Fellow, a part of the Maryland Sports Business Planning Team, and a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also did an InTERPship and was an intern in the Maryland Athletics Marketing Department. Gatzendorfer earned a Bachelor's degree in Management from Maryland in the Spring of 2025. She will pursue a Master's of Sports Administration at Boston College this fall. "It is a true honor to be selected as a 2025 M Club Rodman Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. Competing as a Maryland gymnast has shaped who I am today, and I am grateful for the M Club's investment in my future as I begin my Master's in Sports Administration at Boston College. I am excited to give back to the world of athletics, just as Maryland has given so much to me."
Heffley, a native of Kensington, MD, was a member of the Maryland baseball program for four seasons, helping the Terps to two Big Ten Championships and a Big Ten Tournament Championship. He was named the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner in 2022. Heffley was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He worked as a Sports Turf Technician with the Facilities and Grounds department. This past year, he was the baseball team's Director of Player Personnel. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 2024 from Maryland and will pursue a Master's in the Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering program focusing on Project Management.

A native of Centreville, VA, Huang lettered for four seasons with the Maryland volleyball program. She was the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree in 2023 and earned Academic All-Big Ten three times. She played in 124 matches in her career with a career-best 36 assists as a senior vs. UCLA. Huang was the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) in 2024-25. She was also on the SEEC executive board as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As part of Maryland Made, she was a Gossett Fellow, a member of the Leadership Academy and InTERPship Program. She was also an intern with the Terrapin Club. She graduated from Maryland with a Bachelor of Science from the Business School in Marketing in 2025, and is pursuing a Master's in the Robert H. Smith School of Business with a focus on Management at Maryland.

Nichols is a native of Crofton, MD, and competed with the cross country and track & field teams as a Terrapin. She was awarded the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award and was a Do Good Institute Spring 2025 Accelerator Fellow. She was a member of the Gossett Fellows and College Park Scholars. She was a member of Maryland Made, serving as the Director of Storytelling among many various enterprises. Nichols earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Social Data Science from Maryland in December of 2024. She will pursue a Master's of Public Health at George Washington University this coming year.

A native of Woodbine, MD, O'Brian earned three letters with the wrestling program at Maryland. He earned the ICA Academic Achievement Award twice while serving as the team's SAAC representative. He served as a project manager student intern for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). A member of the Maryland Honors College and University Honors, O'Brian earned undergraduate degrees in English and German at Maryland and will pursue a Master's of Professional Studies in Security and Terrorism Studies at Maryland, starting this fall.

A native of Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, Vázquez Setzer competed in golf for four seasons with the Terrapins and helped them to the NCAA Regionals during her time as a Terp. She was an Academic All-Big Ten selection and a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Finalist in addition to being on the Academic Athletic Honor Roll at Maryland. She was an active member of Maryland Made, serving as the President of Worldwide Terps. She was also a part of the Maryland Made Leadership Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Management in 2024 and is pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at Maryland.

A native of Geldrop, the Netherlands, Verleg played four seasons of field hockey with the Terps. As a team captain in her final season as a Terp, she was named Second Team All-Big Ten in 2023 as well as being a member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad and an Academic All-Big Ten selection. She played in 83 games as a Terp and recorded 35 points, helping the team to three NCAA Tournaments and two NCAA Final Fours. She was a member of Maryland Made's Leadership Academy. She earned a double Bachelor's Degree in both Criminology and Criminal Justice and Psychology. She has been accepted into Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands and is pursuing a graduate program in Forensic and Legal Psychology.

Warther, a native of Sykesville, MD, played five seasons with Maryland women's lacrosse as she was a part of two national championship teams, in 2017 and 2019, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in each season. She played in 57 games as a Terp and recorded 52 goals and 10 assists for 62 points over her playing career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Maryland in 2020 and a Master's in Supply Chain Management in 2021 and is currently at New York Law School, pursuing a Juris Doctor with expected graduation in 2027.

A native of Waxahachie, TX, Watson earned four letters in volleyball with the Terrapins. She appeared in 59 matches at Maryland as she was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and the team's Sportsmanship Award winner in 2024. She was a member of Pre-Health Terps through Maryland Made and was a Team Impact Athlete. She also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the volleyball team representative for four years. Watson graduated from Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in December of 2024. She has been accepted into Baylor University's graduate program and will pursue a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy.

The M Club Rodman Postgraduate Scholarship was established in 2006 with a $260K gift in the form of a life insurance policy for Leonard Rodman, a former Maryland Boxer and graduate of the class of 1943. Since his death, Rodman's endowment has allowed the M Club to award nearly $250,000 in postgraduate scholarship support to 46 Maryland student-athletes to continue their education. In 2012, Rodman was inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame posthumously for meritorious service in recognition of his lifelong commitment to Maryland student-athletes. Rodman's son, Roy, and grandson, Nolan, now continue his legacy of Athletes Helping Athletes through their ongoing generous support of the M Club and Maryland Athletics.
