COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of Maryland women's tennis team wins against Howard 7-0 in the second match of a doubleheader on Sunday, January 18th.
In the doubles round, the Terps got their point from 6-0 victories by the
Ema Kovacevic and
Emma Ghirardato tandem, along with the
Oliwia Orlinska and
Magdalena Baniak duo.
In singles, the freshman took off. Freshman
Magdalena Baniak won her match 6-0, 6-2, while
Lucia Donnelly won hers 6-1, 6-1, and
Gabriela Pimentel won her first match as a Terp, in a 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 thriller. Additionally,
Diya Challa impressively swept her singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Singles victories from
Emma Ghirardato and Emma Kovacevic gave the Terps a total of 7 points, boosting them to a 2-0 day in the doubleheader.
