Jalen Huskey Set to Play in the East-West Shrine Bowl

FRISCO, TX — Former Maryland defensive back Jalen Huskey will take part in the East-West Shrine Bowl on Tuesday night at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

The game, now in its 101st installment, benefits Shriners Children's and will kick off at 7 p.m. The contest will be broadcast nationally on NFL Network.

Huskey will compete for the West Team and will wear No. 32 in the showcase, which features many of the nation's top collegiate prospects as they prepare for the NFL Draft.

A standout during his final season in College Park, Huskey earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from both the media and coaches. He played in all 12 games with 11 starts, anchoring a Maryland defense that recorded its most interceptions since 2010.

Huskey finished the season with four interceptions, tying for the team lead, tying for fourth in the Big Ten and tying for 16th nationally. He also ranked second on the team in tackles with 72, the sixth-most by a defensive back in the conference.

In recognition of his impact on and off the field, Huskey was named Maryland's Defensive Player of the Year at the program's annual awards banquet and was voted by his teammates as one of three permanent team captains following the season.

If Huskey is drafted, it will be the fifth straight year with a Terrapin defensive back being chosen in the NFL Draft.
