
Five Personal Bests Highlight Maryland's Performances On Day One At The Penn State National Open

Ogechi Uzoukwu hit a personal best in the 60 meters hurdle with a time of 8.79 seconds. She took third in her heat and placed 12th overall in the first round to qualify for the evening semifinals.

In addition to Uzoukwu qualifying for the evening semifinal events, both Bryce Hatcher and Victoria Teasley did so in the 60 meter dash. Hatcher clocked a time of 7.64 seconds to finish second in her heat, while Teasley had a time of 7.58 seconds to place second in her heat.
In the semifinal events Uzoukwu logged a time of 8.82 in the 60 meter hurdles, In the 60 meters Bryce Hatcher turned in a time of 7.60 and Victoria Teasley recorded a time of 7.61.
Jasmine Sharps recorded a personal best with a time of 7.66 seconds in the 60 meters.

Nyla Cherry reached a distance of 5.59 meters in the long jump to qualify as a finalist in the event placing ninth.

Bryce Hatcher sprinted to a new personal best in the 60 meters, with a time of 7.60 seconds to qualify for the semifinal.

Annika Metzger logged a time of 4:57.37 for a new personal best in the mile. The sophomore won her heat and finished 25th overall.

Lucy Scothern recorded a personal best time of 2:11.52 in the 800 meters, which was good enough to secure first place in her heat.

Other standout performers for the Terps on day one included Ella O'Neall who placed eighth in the weight throw finals (17.45), Victoria Teasley who placed tenth in the 60 meters (7.58)
