COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Each week during the 2025-26 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the
Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.
This week's Terp of the Week is junior
Oluchi Okananwa of women's basketball.
Okananwa led the way for Maryland in with a a career-high 34 points, setting personal bests in back-to-back home games. Her 34 points marked the 12th-highest scoring game in program history and helped Maryland with an 82-67 win over Indiana on Sunday.
On New Year's Day against Illinois, Okananwa posted her sixth straight game in double-figure scoring, finishing with 12 points.
Okananwa has scored in double figures in 14 of 16 games this season. She is averaging 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
The Terrapins will travel to face Rutgers (8–7, 0–4) on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Jersey Mike's Arena, before returning home to host Ohio State (13–2, 3–1) on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the XFINITY Center. For tickets, click
