COLLEGE PARK, MD. – Three members of the 2025 Maryland football team have been named Academic All-District, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday. The 2025 Academic All‐District Team recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The Terrapins three representatives are sophomore offensive lineman
Michael Hershey, junior running back
Eli Mason and junior punter
Bryce McFerson.
McFerson was also selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
To be considered for a CSC Academic All-District Team, nominees must be at least a sophomore with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. They also must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests.
On the field, McFerson finished the regular season second in the Big Ten with a 44.2-yard punting average. It marked the sixth-best single-season punting average in program history. The junior recorded 14 punts of 50-plus yards, the second-most in the Big Ten, and placed 19 punts inside the 20-yard line, the fourth-most in the conference.
Hershey started all 12 games at center for the Terps during the 2025 season. He was an anchor for an offensive line that allowed just nine sacks on the year, tied for the third fewest in the nation. Mason contributed on all of Maryland's special teams units, including serving as the personal protector on the punt team.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 27, 2025.
