COLLEGE PARK, MD --  Junior guard Oluchi Okananwa of the 14^th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (21-6, 9-6 B1G) was named to the 2026 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team Tuesday.
 
Okananwa, a guard from Boston, is one of the 30 top players in the country named to the Late-Season Team. She is leading the Terrapins with 17.1 points per game with 5.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.3 assists. Okananwa was scored in double figures in 23 of 27 games with three double-doubles this year.
 
Okananwa is No. 3 in the Big Ten in steals (61), No. 8 in points (461) and No. 9 in field goal percentage (51.7%).
 
Okananwa and the Terrapins have won four straight games, including two top 12 road matchups at No. 12 Michigan State on Feb. 4 and No. 8 Ohio State on Feb. 15.
 
Maryland will host Purdue (12-13, 4-10) Sunday, Feb. 22 in a 1 p.m. matchup at the XFINITY Center. The Terrapins will honor seniors Yarden Garzon, Mir McLean and Saylor Poffenbarger prior to tipoff Sunday. For tickets, click here.
