Kristen Shanahan’s Four-Goal Game Sparks No. 3 Terps’ 10-7 Comeback Win Over Georgetown

Shanahan’s offensive outburst highlighted a 9-1 second-half run that helped Maryland erase a four-goal deficit.

WASHINGTON, DC — No. 3 Maryland erased a four-goal deficit on Wednesday night to deal Georgetown a 10-7 decision and keep its undefeated start to the season started. A massive 9-1 second-half run featured four goals from Kristen Shanahan as the Terps moved to 3-0 in 2026. Shanahan, Lexi Dupack, and Lauren LaPointe all netted heroic goals in Maryland's six-goal fourth quarter that saw the Terps take their first lead and hold on to close out their 16th consecutive victory over Georgetown.  It took the Terps nearly 29 minutes of play to get on the board against the Hoyas, but once Keeley Block got them started with a goal late in the second quarter, Maryland rattled off five of the next seven goals to work its way back into the contest.

JJ Suriano was key in net as she waited for her Terps to get going offensively. She made nine of her 13 saves in the first half and came up huge on several free position opportunities. Once Maryland claimed its first lead, she protected it, closing out the rivalry victory. The Terps have only allowed 21 goals so far this season, which are the program's third-fewest through three games in the past 10 years.

Jordyn Lipkin scored twice during Maryland's three-goal third quarter that cut the Hoyas' lead to 6-4 entering the fourth quarter. Dupcak's third goal of the season tied the game at 7-7 in the fourth quarter, and LaPointe scored twice in the closing frame as Maryland closed out its comeback win.
