Stockton Homers in 9-1 Loss to Louisiana

Rylen Stockton’s second homer of the season provided the Terps’ only offense in a tough Saturday loss.

LAFAYETTE, LA — Maryland dropped a 9-1 contest to Louisiana on Saturday afternoon. Rylen Stockton left the yard for the second time this season, but Louisiana limited Maryland's bats as the Ragin' Cajuns clinched the weekend series win.

Maryland (3-3) starter Nic Morlang kept Louisiana off the board through his first three innings of work, but the Ragin' Cajuns broke through with a five-run, four-hit fourth inning to claim the game's first lead and end Morlang's second outing of the season.

Louisiana benefited from a strong day from a pair of different arms in its pitching staff. Starter Andrew Herrmann led the charge with his 6.1 innings of one-run, two-hit ball. His 116-pitch outing dropped his season ERA to just 2.38 as he earned his first win of the 2026.

Stockton chased Herrmann with a solo shot to left field in the top of the seventh inning. His 13 total bases this season rank tied for second on the team, only behind Ryan Costello (16) and tied with Brayden Martin.

Louisiana (4-2) responded with a two-run seventh inning and a run in the eighth to put the game out of reach. The Terps used six arms in the loss, and look to avoid the weekend sweep on Sunday at 2 PM.
