COLLEGE PARK, MD - The University of Maryland softball team will host the Terrapin Invitational this weekend in College Park. The teams in the tournament include Syracuse, Fairfield, Providence, and UMBC. Maryland will play one game on Friday, two games on Saturday, and then will play one game on Sunday. All the games will be live streamed on B1G+.

- Maryland will host the 2026 Big Ten Softball Tournament at the Maryland Softball Stadium, May 6-9. This will be the first year College Park will host the Big Ten Softball Tournament. Maryland's last win in the Tournament was in 2024, where the No. 10 ranked Terrapins upset No. 7 Penn State, 3-1 in nine innings.
- In head coach Lauren Karn's first two years leading the Terps, she compiled a 42-61 overall record while coaching two All-Big Ten selections and earning three victories over Top-25 opponents.
- The Terps are 3-4 all-time against Syracuse and 1-1 in College Park.
- Maryland and Providence have only met once in Maryland Softball history. The Terps pulled away with a 4-0 win in 2015 in FAU's Strikeout Cancer Tournament.
- Against the Fairfield Stags, Maryland is 4-2 overall and 1-0 at home. These two teams met in 2024 and the Terps secured a 10-2 win.
- Maryland leads the all-time series against UMBC 18-4. The Terps have scored 116 total runs on the Retrievers averaging 5.27 runs per game.
Mizuno/Liberty Classic
- The Terps finished 0-3 at the Mizuno Classic at the University of Virginia and 1-2 at the Liberty Softball Classic.
- Bailey Murphy led the Terps with a .533 average, recording eight hits including two doubles. Sammi Woods led the team with 10 hits (.526 average), scoring two runs.
- Anna McGowan recorded her second home run of the season against #21 Virginia and led the team with four RBI.
- Caitlyn Cornwell and Mariah Penta each recorded six hits.
FRESHMAN CORNER
- The Terps welcome five freshmen to College Park: Zayda Rocke, Bailey Ullman, Kate Stephens, Elisea Wiegand, and Sage Rodmyre.
- Zayda is tied for first on the team in home runs with two. She has started every game so far this season as the catcher
- Elisea has a 1-1 record in the circle. She is second on the team with a 2.45 ERA, recording 17 strikeouts
- Sage leads the freshman with eight hits, including three RBI, scoring three runs
B1G Players to watch
- Kiera Bucher, Sammi Woods, and Bailey Murphy were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List for 2026.
- Bucher returns to College Park for her senior season in the circle. She has made six appearances and one start this season. Keira has a 3-1 record and leads the team with a 1.91 ERA.
- Murphy is second on the team with a .351 average off 13 hits, including two doubles and four RBI
- Woods returns at shortstop for the Terps. She has a team leading 19 hits including two doubles. In the field she has made 18 putouts and 22 assists.
