The Terps are 3-0 at home to start the season with back-to-back walk-off wins.
The game featured several lead changes, but it was the Terps (5-4) that sealed the win late. They retook a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and held it until Wagner (1-6) plated a run in the top of the ninth to send it to the bottom half.
Two-sport star Bud Coombs went 3-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a pair of runs, falling a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He blasted a three-run home run to center field in the bottom of the third, which briefly put the Terps ahead with their first lead of the game. Coombs has back-to-back games with a homer. This was also his first career multi-hit game.
Despite allowing the late run, Maryland's bullpen posted a dominant outing. Ryan Bailey pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three batters. His best inning came in the sixth, where he posted a 1-2-3 inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Jayson Torres and Cristofer Cespedes were also pivotal in the win. Torres pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning, while Cespedes pitched the final two innings, where he allowed a single run and struck out two Seahawks.
Brayden Martin went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run. David Mendez, Paul Jones II and Antonio Morales followed, driving in one run apiece. Freshman Ty Kaunas went 3-for-5 in the box, securing the fourth multi-hit game of his young career. It was also his first career three-hit day.
Wagner fell to 1-6 on the season despite their valiant effort. It was led by Joseph Mennella, who accounted for six of the team's RBIs. He recorded two separate three-run home runs in the third and fourth innings, respectively.
