Garzon Named to Cheryl Miller Award Top 10

SPRINGFIELD, MA -- Senior Yarden Garzon of the 22nd-ranked Maryland women's basketball team was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Mid-Season Top 10 candidates list Wednesday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
 
The Cheryl Miller Award, in its ninth year, honors the top small forwards in women's Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer.
 
Garzon, a senior from Ra'anana, Israel, is averaging 13 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists for the Terrapins this season. Garzon is leading the Big Ten with her three-point percentage of 40% and in three-pointers made (64). She is averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in Big Ten play. Garzon has scored in double figures in 16 of 23 games so far this season.

In mid-March, the Mid-Season Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Erving, Miller, and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected.
 
Maryland (17-6, 5-6 B1G) will play at No. 12 Michigan State (19-3, 8-3) on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing. The Terps and the Spartans will tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET on B1G+.
