
Terps’ Rally Comes Up Short in 8-6 Loss to Purdue

Bud Coombs drove in a pair of runs on Saturday.
A seven-run second inning from Purdue put Maryland in an early hole. Five of the frame's runs were unearned as the Boilermakers tallied four hits in the frame.
David Mendez got the Terps' scoring started in the bottom of the first with a solo shot to left-center. His fourth of the season marked the first of Maryland's 11 hits on Saturday.
Bud Coombs had a big day in his return to the lineup. He used an RBI double and a sacrifice fly to drive in a pair of runs and help Maryland work its way back into the contest.Mendez gets the Terps on the board with a blast over the left center wall!💥

Brayden Ryan was elite out of the Terps' bullpen, throwing five scoreless frames to keep Purdue off the board from the third through eighth innings. He only relented two hits and fanned four across his stellar outing. Cristofer Cespedes threw a scoreless ninth, but Maryland was held scoreless in the bottom of the ninth.
