Terps Collect 13 Hits in 8-3 Loss to No. 1 UCLA

Five Different Terps logged multi-hit games on Saturday evening.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Maryland outhit the top-ranked team in the land on Saturday evening, but No. 1 UCLA outlasted the Terps 8-3 to drop Maryland to 11-11 (1-4 Big Ten) in 2026.

Aden Hill was one of five Terps with multiple hits in Saturday's contest. He blasted his third homer of the season in the third inning and has collected four hits through the first two games of the weekend series. The first of Rylen Stockton's two hits plated the Terps' first run in the top of the first inning, but UCLA scored seven runs across the first four innings, including a four-run first, to take early control of the game. Brayden Martin drew a trio of walks to move into fifth in Maryland career-walk history.  David Mendez and Nate Hawton-Henley both scored during their multi-hit games while Ty Kaunas reached safely twice. Maryland outhit UCLA 13-10 on Saturday to mark the Bruins' second-most hits allowed in their 20-2 (8-0 Big Ten) start to the season.

Cristofer Cespedes held UCLA to just one run on two hits across his 4.1 innings of work while collecting a career-high seven strikeouts. Maryland looks to avoid the sweep on Sunday at 4 PM. How it Happened:
  • T1: Stockton opened the scoring with an RBI double. 
  • B1: UCLA used an RBI double and a three-run homer to claim a 4-1 lead. 
  • T2: Hill's third homer of the season gave the Terps their second run.
