Costello, Crosland Homer As Terps Fall In Finale At No. 1 UCLA

Costello’s 10th blast of the year highlighted Maryland’s offensive efforts on Sunday.

Box Score LOS ANGELES, CA — Maryland fell 14-4 to No. 1-ranked UCLA on Sunday afternoon as the Bruins finished a three-game sweep. The Terps are now 11-12 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten, while the Bruins improved to 21-2 and stayed perfect in conference action at 9-0.  UCLA has won 15 games in a row. 

Ryan Costello provided the Terps' a spark with a solo homer in the fourth inning, cutting the deficit to 7-1. His team-leading 10th blast of the year got Maryland on the board against the Bruins. 

Jordan Crosland smacked his sixth home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. 

Jackson Sirois and Franklin Pichardo Jr. also drove in runs for the Terps with RBI singles in the fifth and eighth innings, respectively. 

The Bruins built a 6-0 lead after two innings and UCLA used a four-run sixth to seal its 21st win of 2026.


Highly-touted freshman pitcher Austin Weiss made his collegiate debut, entering in the fourth inning. Weiss struck out the nation's top pro prospect, Roch Cholowsky swinging, as the first batter he faced. He finished his scoreless inning by striking out Will Gasparino, one of the nation's leaders in home runs.
