McGowan Homers in 7-2 Loss to Indiana

Anna McGowan hit her team-leading eighth homer of the season on Saturday.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland dropped a 7-2 game to Indiana to close out the weekend series on Sunday afternoon. Three Terps collected multiple hits, but Maryland fell to 13-16 in 2026.

Anna McGowan sent her eighth homer of the season out in the first inning to open the Sunday scoring. She and Matti Benson both collected a pair of hits against the Hoosiers.

Mariah Penta recorded her second straight multi-hit day — and her third in her past four games — with a double in the first, a single in the third, and a leadoff single in the fifth. Maryland collected nine hits in the finale of the weekend Big Ten series.

Caitlin Olensky got the start in the circle for Maryland and kept the Hoosiers from scoring until the fourth inning. The Hoosiers broke through with a three-run fifth frame and a three-run seventh to seal their weekend sweep and move to 25-6 (7-2 Big Ten) on the season.
