Maryland Baseball Heads To Alabama For Weekend Series At Troy

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terrapins (8-4) are heading back down south for a matchup against the Troy Trojans (5-7) in a three-game series this weekend. This is the first time in history these teams will face off. The series is set to begin at 8 p.m. (after an hour delay due to inclement weather in the area) on Friday, followed by a 4:30 first pitch on Saturday and the series will close out on Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be listened to on Maryland Baseball Network. This will be the final non-Big Ten series of the regular season for the Terps.

  • The Terrapins moved to 8-4 after a 7-3 win against the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on Wednesday night. This completed a season sweep against the Blue Hens as the Terps also snapped Delaware's four-game win streak. 
  • Terps are now on a five-game win streak. The team's longest streak since 2023 and the longest of the Swope Era. 
  • Maryland is averaging just over 10 hits and nine runs per game.

  • The Terps have tallied 68 runs, 63 RBI, 59 hits and 25 XBH over the five-game win streak.
  • Freshman Bud Coombs is hitting .600 in his first 10 at bats. His two home runs and three doubles contribute to his 2.214 OPS.
  • Jordan Crosland had a productive series against Wagner, he had his first homer of the season and helped four runners cross home plate. He finished with two home runs and six RBI on the weekend.
  • There are four Terps with double digit RBI: Ryan Costello (23), Ty Kanus (12), Brayden Martin (11) and Paul Jones II (11).

  • Logan Hastings is having a scorching start to the season.
  • Hastings opened the season with 10.1 no-hit innings vs. UNC Wilmington and Louisiana.
  • The sophomore pitched three innings on Sunday and carved four strikeouts on the way to his first win of the season. He is now up to 15 strikeouts on the season.
  • Hastings has a 0.70 WHIP and 1.15 ERA through his first 15.2 innings.
  • He had a dominant display against Louisiana on Feb. 22 with seven strikeouts while allowing only three hits and no earned runs.

  • Ryan Costello is cruising in his first season as a Terp.
  • On Saturday he hit the team's first grand slam of the season.
  • His season total of seven home runs leads the team, along with his nine extra base hits, 23 RBI and 39 total bases.
  • His five RBI against Wagner on Feb. 28 and two homers on Feb. 22 lead the team in single game totals.
Marvelous martin
  • Brayden Martin currently leads the team in both hits (21) and batting average (.412). 10 hits came over the weekend.
  • He also leads the teams in stolen bases with eight and has a 100% success rate. 
  • Martin's plate production goes beyond his hits. He has only been struck out three times in 66 plate appearances and is second on the team for walks with 10.
  • He is third on the team for RBI with 11 on the season.
