No. 14 Terps Drop 73-68 Clash to Oregon in Big Ten Tournament

Oluchi Okananwa scored 27 points as Maryland fell to Oregon

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Oluchi Okananwa scored 27 points in the Second Round of the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament, but the No. 14-ranked and No. 6-seeded Terps fell to No. 11-seeded Oregon 73-68 in the Second Round of the 2026 Allstate Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament on Thursday night. The Big Ten bout featured 11 lead changes, but a 14-3 run from Oregon helped the Ducks advance. Maryland will return to College Park to await its NCAA Tournament fate on Selection Sunday on Mar. 15.

Okananwa led the way for the Terps with 27 points and four rebounds. Maryland's leading scorer on the season added her ninth straight double-digit performance and her fifth game with 20+ points during that stretch. She shot 7-of-8 from the charity stripe as Maryland went 15-17 on free throw attempts. In her two games against Oregon this season, she's scored 54 points.  Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu and Mir McLean both had big nights in the Second Round of the Big Ten Tournament. The two combined for 19 points and nine rebounds on a night Maryland dominated the Ducks on the boards, outgaining Oregon 35-27 in the rebound battle. The Ducks opened the fourth quarter on a 14-3 scoring run to pull ahead and push past the Terps. Ehis Etute led Oregon with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Maryland led after each of the first three quarters, but will return to College Park to await the details of its next game.

How it Happened:
1st Quarter:
  • McLean got Maryland's scoring started.
  • Okananwa scored three straight buckets as the Terps went up 8-5.
  • An Addi Mack steal-and-score put Maryland up 12-8.
  • Ozzy-Momodu and Okananwa netted six points each in the opening quarter.
  • A three-point play from McLean built a 21-13 lead in the final minute.
  • Maryland led 21-15 after 10 minutes of action.
2nd Quarter:
  • Oregon opened the quarter on a 6-0 run to tie the game. 
  • Okananwa's fourth basket of the night put the Terps back ahead.
  • The Ducks scored 11 of the quarter's first 13 points to take a 26-23 lead. 
  • Saylor Poffenbarger's first points of the night put Maryland up 27-26 midway through the quarter. 
  • Okananwa hit a pair of free throws to reach double figures for the 27th time this season.
  • Garzon drained a three-pointer for the Terps' first triple of the night. 
  • Maryland led 32-31 at the half. 
3rd Quarter:
  • McLean knocked down a pair of free throws to get the Terps' scoring starting.
  • Ozzy-Momodu reached double figures early in the quarter.
  • Maryland went on a 7-0 run midway through the quarter to reclaim a 47-45.
  • The Terps took a 57-52 lead into the final quarter.
4th Quarter:
  • Okananwa reached 20 points midway through the quarter. 
  • Oregon opened the quarter on a 14-3 run.
  • A Poffenbarger layup made it a 69-66 Oregon lead with 1:45 to play.
  • Oregon closed out the 73-68 win.
