Terps Mash Four Homers In 7-6 Comeback Win Over Troy

Maryland scored six runs in the final two innings to win Sunday’s rubber match.

TROY, AL — Trailing by a run in the top of the ninth inning, Ryan Costello's second homer of the day put Maryland up 5-4 as the Terps earned the series-clinching win over the Trojans. The Terps scored six runs across the final two innings of Sunday's rubber match to snatch a 7-6 win from the jaws of defeat and move to 10-5 in 2026. The rally started in the eighth inning with Rylen Stockton's fourth homer of the season, which made it a one-run game. Jordan Crosland homered in the ninth as Maryland outhit Troy (6-9) 14-5 as the Terps won their second weekend road series of the season. Brayden Martin legged out a pair of infield singles in his first two at-bats of Sunday's rubber match. His three-hit day pushed his team-leading season hit total to 27 and bumped his season batting average to a remarkable .443 through 15 games this season. Jake Yeager got the nod on the bump for the Terps. He kept Troy off the board until the fourth inning, working around a leadoff double and stranding two in scoring position in the third. Yeager collected four strikeouts and only allowed three hits and two earned runs before he was relieved in the fourth.

Troy loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the fourth, giving way to a three-run, two-hit frame to take the game's first lead. Costello responded in the top of the sixth with his team-leading eighth homer of the season. Andrew Koshy relieved Yeager in the fourth inning and retired nine straight hitters, not allowing a Trojan to reach base again until the sixth inning. He kept his Terps in the game with his career-high 3.0 innings of hitless, shutout ball.

Brayden Ryan threw a pair of blank frames before Ryan Bailey earned the save as Maryland's bullpen conly allowed two runs over six frames. The Terps are back in action against West Virginia on Mar. 10.
