No. 18 Ducks Outlast Terps 4-3 In Eight Innings

Zayda Rocke hit her eighth homer on Saturday.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — It took eight innings to separate Maryland and the No. 18 Ducks, but Oregon used an eighth-inning sac-fly to claim the 4-3 win. The Terps collected five hits — including a two-run blast from Zayda Rocke — but fell to 14-25 (1-16 Big Ten) on the season.

Maryland opened the scoring in the first inning with a sacrifice-fly from Matti Benson. She plated Bailey Murphy, who reached with her third hit of the weekend.  Keira Bucher got the start in the circle against ranked Oregon, but kept the Ducks from scoring until her fourth inning of work. Oregon used three straight two-out hits to plate three runs and take its first lead in the top of the fourth.

Maryland immediately responded with a two-run, first-pitch blast from Rocke. The freshman catcher plated two with her eighth homer of the season, which moved her into a tie for the most on the squad. Bucher was brilliant the rest of the way for Maryland, keeping Oregon from scoring again until the top of the eighth inning, when the Ducks took their final lead to improve to 31-9 (12-2 Big Ten) in 2026. Maryland gets another crack at Oregon on Sunday at 11 AM.
