Russell’s fourth homer of the season gave Maryland its first Big Ten series win of 2026.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Devin Russell played hero in Sunday's rubber match between the Terps and Hoosiers with his walkoff grand slam that lifted Maryland to an 8-6 win over Indiana at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Russell's huge blast gave him his second walkoff homer in as many days and earned Maryland its 2,000th win in program history.

Trailing by two entering the bottom of the ninth, Rylen Stockton, David Mendez, and Nate Hawton-Henley all reached to load the bases and set up Russell's blast. The walkoff victory gave the Terps their first Big Ten series win of the season and lifted them to 17-19 (4-11 Big Ten) on the season.

Maryland loaded the bases in the first inning, setting Stockton up for a two-RBI single to open Sunday's scoring. Stockton finished as one of eight different Terps to record a hit in the thrilling win.

Brayden Ryan got the start on the mound as the first of five Terps to toe the rubber on Sunday. He held the Hoosiers hitless until the third inning, when they scored their first run with an RBI double. Lance Williams recorded the win after throwing 2.2 scoreless innings before the rally.

A sac-fly from Paul Jones II in the fifth inning interrupted a six-run spurt from the Hoosiers that spanned the third through sixth innings before Mendez brought the Terps a run closer with his fifth home of the season.

A day removed from his three-hit Saturday, Russell delivered his fourth homer of the season to down the Hoosiers and drop them to 14-21 (6-12 Big Ten) in 2026. Maryland is back in action at home with a midweek game against Towson on Tuesday.
