David Mendez’s three-hit day highlighted the Terps’ winning effort on Sunday afternoon.
Maryland did most of its damage in its seven-run seventh inning. The Terps opened the inning with five straight singles as Mendez and Devin Russell collected RBIs. Maryland took its first lead in a four-run fifth inning. The Terps loaded the bases for Paul Jones II, who plated two with a single before Mendez ripped a two-RBI double to give Maryland a 5-1 lead. Brayden Ryan held the Hawkeyes to just three earned runs across his five-inning outing on Sunday afternoon. He worked a pair of clean innings and collected a trio of strikeouts as the first of only two Terps to toe the rubber in the series finale.
