COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland Women's Tennis team will travel to Chapel Hill, NC, for the 2026 NCAA Regionals. Maryland (18-7) will face South Carolina (12-12). The winner will face the winner of #5-seed North Carolina (24-3) and Charleston Southern (11-8). The first round match will be Friday, May 1st, at 1 PM.
The format of the NCAA Tournament is as follows:
The championship is a 64-team, single-elimination tournament. First and second-round competition will be conducted at a minimum of 16 sites, with four teams at each site. Thirty conference champions receive automatic qualification into the team championships
The Terps enter the NCAA Tournament at 18-7, tying a school record for most wins in a season. In addition, Maryland had eight Big Ten wins this season, breaking the record for the most Big Ten wins in program history! Maryland advanced to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history. The Terps defeated Northwestern in the first round and #12-ranked and #2-seeded USC in the second round, the best-ranked win since 2013.
Maryland has qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011! This will be the seventh NCAA tournament appearance, following 1996, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, and 2011. The Terps have never won a match in the tournament.
