Maryland scored the final five runs of Friday’s series-opening thriller.
Maryland scored three of the game's first four runs. Brayden Martin and Ty Kaunas recorded back-to-back hits with runners in scoring position to open a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Kaunas tacked a sacrifice-fly onto his statsheet in the fourth.
Maryland loaded the bases before an out was recorded in the eighth, sparking a five-run frame as the Terps tried to work back into the contest. The Buckeyes (15-13, 5-5 Big Ten) pulled away in the late innings. Ohio State plated five runs in the seventh inning, three of which came on a Maddix Simpson home run.
