Terps Suffer Run-Rule Loss To Penn State in Series Opener

Maryland is set for a doubleheader with the Nittany Lions on Saturday.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — Penn State opened its weekend series with Maryland with a 13-5 win on its home field on Friday afternoon. Five of Penn State's eight hits left the yard as the Terps fell to 13-21 (1-12 Big Ten) in 2026.

Caroline Fox also tallied a pair of hits and scored on a Bailey Murphy sac-fly. Matti Benson drove in a pair of runs with a fourth-inning double as Maryland chipped away at PSU's lead. Six different Terps logged hits in Friday's loss as four different pitchers toed the rubber.   An eight-run PSU third inning was the dagger on Friday afternoon.
