Rocke’s Walkoff Homer Lifts Terps to 5-3 Win Over Georgetown

Rocke’s heroic shot earned Maryland a midweek victory.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — After Maryland rallied from down 3-1 in the sixth, Zayda Rocke's two-run walkoff homer lifted the Terps to a 5-3 win over Georgetown on Wednesday night. Maryland improved to 14-23 on the season with the rivalry win. Gracie Wilson's first-career homer opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning to put Maryland ahead 1-0. She tied the game in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout.  Elisea Wiegand got the start in the circle for the Terps and was dominant through her first five scoreless innings. Georgetown hit a three-run homer off her in the sixth inning for the Hoyas' only runs of the night. Keira Bucher earned the win after Rocke's homer.

Rocke, Matti Benson, and Caroline Fox all logged multi-hit days in the win. Fox picked up a crucial RBI during Maryland's two-run sixth inning. 
Rocke's two-run blast sent the fans home happy as the freshman catcher launched her seventh homer of the year into the College Park night. The Terps are back in action with a three-game series against Oregon starting on Friday.
