Maryland Women’s Tennis Loses to South Carolina in First Round of NCAA Tournament

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Maryland Women's Tennis Team falls to South Carolina 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
This was the first time Maryland had been in the tournament since 2011.
In the doubles round, the Gamecocks earned the point in a thriller doubles match, splitting the first two matches, ultimately losing the third match 7-5.
In singles, the Terps got first-set singles wins from Ema Kovacevic, Magdalena Baniak, and Diya Challa!
In the end, South Carolina took the first three matches, making the final 4-0.
Ema Kovacevic's, Magdalena Baniak's, and Diya Challa's matches all went unfinished.
The match was called after the clinch.
This caps off Maryland's best season in over a decade. The Terps finished 18-8 and went 8-5 in the Big Ten, the most they've ever won in a season. They also went the furthest they've made it in the Big Ten Tournament, making it to the semifinals.
