
Maryland Women's Soccer's Ella Petry Named South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland women's soccer incoming freshman Ella Petry was named the 2025-26 South Carolina Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year, Gatorade announced.
The Gatorade Player of the Year award is the highest honor in high school sports, recognizing the nation's top athletes for excellence in athletic achievement, academics, and community involvement. As the South Carolina recipient, Petry joins a distinguished list of former winners that includes professional athletes, coaches, and business leaders.
Petry arrives in College Park this fall with a decorated high school career. The 5-foot-5 midfielder led Oceanside Colliegate Academy to a 17-2 record and a Class AAA state championship, recording 27 goals and 21 assists. She also scored in the state final and is a two-time Class AAA Player of the Year, ranked No. 147 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
A member of Oceanside Collegiate's student government program, Petry has also served locally as a peer tutor and writing lab consultant. She has volunteered with Lowcountry Orphan Relief and as a youth soccer coach, while maintaining an A average in the classroom.
