Said El Eyssami Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Said El Eyssami has been named the first men's soccer Big Ten Freshman of the Week of the 2026 season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
El Eyssami scored twice in his first collegiate match as No. 7 Maryland opened its 2026 campaign with a statement 2-1 road win over Pittsburgh on Thursday night. With his two goals, El Eyssami became the first Maryland player to score twice in a season opener since Jake Rozhansky in 2017 and the first freshman to do so since Graham Zusi in 2005.
Maryland is back in action this Saturday at Ludwig Field vs. No. 16 High Point. Kickoff is set for 7 pm and will be televised on B1G+. Tickets can be purchased here.
