Four Maryland Women’s Tennis Players Earn Spots in Preseason ITA Rankings

COLLEGE PARK, MD— For the first time in program history, four Terps are represented in the ITA preseason national rankings, with Diya Challa, Emma Ghirardato, Oliwia Orlinska, and Ema Kovacevic each appearing in the singles and/or doubles rankings.
In singles, juniors Oliwia Orlinska and Emma Ghirardato rank 71 and 96, respectively. In doubles, the Terps appear twice: Ema Kovacevic and Oliwia Orlinska (66) and Emma Ghirardato and Diya Challa (84).
At the end of last season, Ghirardato and Kovacevic ranked 68 in doubles, with Ghirardato and Challa ranked 33. Additionally, Orlinska was ranked 114 in singles.
All four return as Terps this season after a tremendous spring season in which the team competed in the NCAA Spring Championship for the first time since 2011.
