The Terps suffered just their first loss of 2026 on Thursday night.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Maryland outshot Navy on Thursday night, but two first-half goals from the Mids earned them a 2-0 win over the Terps, making Navy the first team to defeat Maryland (2-1-1) in 2026.
Navy (2-2-1) scored twice in the opening 18 minutes to take early control of the match. The Mids opened the scoring with a goal on the first shot of the match and used a free kick opportunity to double their lead 11 minutes later.
Maryland had eight different Terps put up shots on Thursday, including five multi-shot performances, as it peppered the Navy goalkeeper, but the Mids held on to their early lead. Maryland still leads the all-time series with Navy, 13-5-2, and will return to College Park for a match against Old Dominion on Sept. 3.

1st Half:
- Navy struck first with a goal in the seventh minute on the first shot of the match.
- Abigail Stager logged the Terps' first shot in the 10th minute, forcing the first Navy save.
- Navy added to its lead with a free-kick goal in the 18th minute.
- Jolie Farmer recorded two shots in the first half.
- The Mids were served a yellow card in the 45th minute, but led 2-0 at halftime.
- Ary Oliver applied early pressure with a shot on goal.
- Navy was given another yellow card in the 53rd minute.
- Faith Luckey made her first save in the 54th minute.
- A good look from Emily Lenhard forced a Navy save in the 69th minute.
- Meredith Fisher made a save during her scoreless relief outing in net.
- Maryland fought off a series of Navy corners in the final minutes, but was unable to rally.
