GREENVILLE, NC — Maryland continued its historic stretch with a sweep (25-18, 25-15, 25-21) of East Carolina on Friday night in the ECU Tournament. The Terps (9-1) secured their seventh straight sweep — their most since 2021 — and pushed their winning streak to eight consecutive matches.

Brooklynne Brass had a career night with a career-high nine kills (2 blocks, 11 digs), while Eva Rohrbach (10 kills, 2.5 blocks), Ava Brown (nine kills, two blocks) and Sara Toth (31 assists) helped Maryland improve to 4-0 all-time against the Pirates (6-5).

The Terps took early control of the night with a 25-18 win in the first set. Maryland had to rally in the second frame, but an 8-0 run propelled the Terps to a 25-15 victory. They closed out their eighth straight win with a 25-21 win in the third set.

With its eighth straight victory, Maryland matched its longest winning streak since 2024. The Terps have won 24 consecutive sets and their 9-1 record marks their best start to a season since 2021. Maryland will wrap up the ECU Tournament on Saturday against Old Dominion.

How It Happened:
1st Set:

Brown started the night with a kill.
A kill from Brass put Maryland up 5-4.
The Terps pulled out front with a 6-1 run.
Another Brass kill gave Maryland a 15-12 lead at the media timeout.
Back-to-back kills from Rohrbach and Brass put the Terps up 19-13.
Brass delivered an ace late in the set.
Maryland took the first set, 25-18.

2nd Set:

The Terps jumped out to a 6-3 lead.
The Pirates rallied to tie the set at 10-10.
An 8-0 Maryland run built a 19-12 lead.
The Terps closed out a 25-15 set win.

3rd Set:

An early Rohrbach kill gave the Terps an early 3-2 lead.
Elayna Davidson made it 8-6 with an ace.
ECU called timeout as Maryland used a 3-0 run to claim an 11-8 lead.
The Terps led 15-12 at the media break.
Another Davidson ace helped the Terps pull away.
Rohrbach delivered a late ace.
Maryland ended the match with a 25-21 set win.
