A last-minute goal from Peyton Bernard gave the Terps a victory on Senior Day.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland's Peyton Bernard was awarded a penalty shot in the final minute of Sunday's match against Binghamton, and the senior buried it to lift the Terps (3-2-1) to a 2-1 win over the Bearcats on Senior Day at Ludwig Field.

Binghamton entered Sunday having not allowed a goal in its first six matches of the season, but Mckinley Heaven quickly put an end to the streak with her first goal of the season in the second minute of play.

Faith Luckey got the start in goal and made a pair of saves before turning the goalkeeping duties over to Meredith Fisher early in the second half. The Bearcats evened the score with a goal in the 74th minute. The two squads looked to be heading for a 1-1 draw, but Bernard's penalty shot in the 90th minute helped Maryland become the first team to defeat the Bearcats (4-1-2) in 2026.

How it Happened:
1st Half:

Heaven scored (1) in the second minute to open the scoring.
Maryland fought off a Binghamton corner without allowing a shot in the seventh minute.
Luckey made her first save on the Bearcats' first shot in the 15th minute.
The Terps defended two more corners without relenting a shot midway through the half.
Maryland took its 1-0 lead into the break.

2nd Half:

Luckey made her second save in the 48th minute.
A shot from Peyton Bernard forced a Bearcats' save in the 50th minute.
Abigail Stager put a shot on net in the 60th minute.
Binghamton was shown a yellow card in the 74th minute.
The Bearcats scored in the 74th minute to even the match.
Bernard's goal (1) gave the Terps a 2-1 lead in the 90th minute.
Maryland secured the 2-1 win

Maryland honored its five senior student-athletes with their families before the match.
