Terps Finish Second at Nittany Lion Invitational

STATE COLLEGE, PA -- The Maryland women's golf team finished second out of 18 teams competing at the Nittany Lion Invitational Monday and Tuesday at the Penn State Golf Course.
The Terps went -15 overall with a score of 849 (282-281-286). They held the lead going into Tuesday's final round, then finished just five strokes behind Virginia Tech for the title. Maryland's score of 849 is the second-lowest in tournament history, behind just the Hokies.
Senior Nicha Kanpai tied for second overall in the Nittany Lion Invitational with a score of 207 (68-68-70), which was -9. She racked up 14 birdies and birdied or parred 49 of 54 holes in the event.
Sophomore Noa Terroba Toro finished second in the Happy Valley Invidividual event, which ran concurrently. She shot a 140 (70-70), which was -4. Senior Julia Garcia tied for 4th in the Happy Valley Individual with a score of 143 (75-68).
Juniors Chananyu Chowiwattana, Anna Pillard and freshman Noa Zocco tied for 15th with a score of 215 and went -1. Chowiwattana went 71-70-74 and Pillard went 71-72-72. Zocco went 74-71-70 in her first collegiate event.
Sophomore Emily McKee shot a 225 (71-76-78), which was +9.
Next, the Terrapins will compete in the Canadian Collegiate in Toronto Sept. 21-22.
