Biography

As a junior (2015): Saw action in 17 games...saw first career action vs. #12 Northwestern (Sept. 18)...picked up first career assist off Terps' third goal in 5-2 win over New Hampshire (Sept. 20)...added an assist in Terps' 5-1 win over Michigan State (Sept. 27)...scored first career goal in Terps' 6-0 win over Towson (Oct. 25)...scored Terps' second goal in 5-1 win over #10 Michigan in Big Ten Championship game (Nov. 8)...part of team that swept Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.

Before Maryland: Played on the Dutch Under-16 and Under-18 team...with the Under-16 team, won the Four Nations Tournament against Spain, Germany and England in Valencia, Spain... Also finished second in another Under-16 Four Nations Tournament in Germany.

Personal: Florentine Isabelle Paanakker...parents are Karen and Lucas Paanakker and both are doctors...has two sisters, Laura and Eline, and one brother, Marnix...mother played in the national team system as well...oldest sister, Laura played in the U.S. for one year at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania...started playing hockey at the age of six...chose Maryland because she wanted to go to a foreign country...first learned of Maryland from a friend that had worked camps.
