Head coach Brenda Frese
On Maryland's 76-61 victory over Loyola:
"I'm very excited to see the balanced scoring we had tonight, it was a great team win for us. There was a lot of unselfish play. It was exciting to see the double-double Crystal Washington had for us and Anesia Smith did a great job running the point for us tonight, she brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm. We really challenged our post players in this game and they really brought it tonight. We locked down on their two top scorers and did a tremendous job defensively. That's what we're going to have to continue to have as we keep getting better and better."
On Maryland's performance throughout the game:
"We talked about playing for 40 minutes and we came close to that tonight. We had a couple spurts where we lost our focus but overall, out of the seven games so far, this was probably our most complete game we've played as a team."
On keeping momentum:
"It says that on any given night, everyone on this team is capable of stepping up and helping this team. That's what we've been trying to tell this team: when we're unselfish we're hard to stop. We have so many weapons and they can't just shut down one or two players on this team. We have to continue to build on this momentum as we get ready to go on the road and play a very tough Virginia Tech team, a team that's ranked in the Top 25. We'll be excited about the challenge.
Senior forward Crystal Washington
On Maryland's effort throughout the game:
"We have to continue playing regardless if we're up 20 or down 20. So if the ball is going out of bounds we'd go get it because maybe she [the opposing team's player] would think we were going to get it and dive and it'd be our ball again. We're just learning how to play all the way through plays and play through mistakes. That's what we have to work on now as we learn how to play this game."
Freshman guard Shay Doron
On Maryland's performance:
"I just liked the way the team played, especially Crystal [Washington]. We definitely proved that we have post play tonight, and I'm proud of them."
