Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese
Overall thoughts on the game
"That was fun. I don't have any other way to put it. I was just so proud to see this team come out for 40 minutes. We talked about making a convincing statement and we did tonight. I was proud to see our unselfishness and working together, and big things are going to happen for this team if we keep doing that."
On the slow, early shooting
"We needed to get some of the kinks worked out [with the St. Bonaventure zone]. Once we started getting better ball reversal, getting better touches, I think we started doing a much better job."
On team defense
"We really have been challenging this team defensively. It's exciting to see how this team responded, getting up on people and denying."
On Anesia Smith's performance
"It was one of the best floor games I've seen out of Anesia. She did a tremendous job in our [press] break tonight - beating people off the dribble, being very unselfish, getting people the ball at the right time. She just had a tremendous floor game for us."
On shooting
"We needed to have a great shooting night like that from the 3-point line. We were disappointed in our performance at Xavier. We shot about 15 percent from the 3-point line. The thing I love about this team is that when you challenge them, they respond. They worked on it and want to get better, so it's exciting."
On the bench
"I thought we had a great game from the bench, and we didn't have a let down. That's what we have to have. Everyone on this team has a role and has to come out and play hard. It was nice to be able to see everyone get an opportunity to play tonight."
On Charmaine Carr
"She stepped on the floor and was ready to play for us, and I thought she did a tremendous job."
Maryland guard Anesia Smith
On her improved shooting
"Shay, Charmaine, C'Vette and I did a lot of work over the summer, working on our midrange game. This year, when I have the opportunity to hit a midrange shot, I'm looking for it now. I'm a lot more confident in my shot this year. I'll try to knock down the open jumper when I can."
Maryland guard Shay Doron
On team scoring
"Everybody can score, everybody can pass. It just makes us that much more dangerous."
On the follow up to the Xavier game and the home court advantage
"It's important for us to come out hard every time because we're trying to prove that we belong at the top. I think that we're showing that every team that comes in -- especially into this arena -- they aren't going to have an easy win, or a win at all. Anyone who comes in here better know that they're going to have to play their hearts out as hard as they can."
Maryland guard Kalika France
On the team's confidence
"Our confidence is definitely high coming off a tough road win. Last year, we might not have pulled that out. Our confidence is very high right now."
