April 20, 2005
College Park, Md. - The Maryland men's tennis team will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Thursday at 12 p.m. in the first round of the ACC Championships in Cary, N.C. The Terps will be looking to reverse its fortunes on Thursday and attempt to upset the 28th ranked Yellow Jackets.
Maryland went 8-11 in the regular season, but failed to get a win in conference play going 0-10. The Terps will enter the tournament as the 11th seed and will seek revenge against the 5th seeded Yellow Jackets for a 7-0 defeat earlier in the season. Head Coach Jim Laitta is very excited about the upcoming tournament. "Our guys have competed very hard this year, and have improved a great deal during the season, and we are looking towards the tournament," said Coach Laitta.
If the Terps advance to the quarterfinals, they will square off against the Florida State Seminoles who earned a first round by on Friday at 6 p.m.
