Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese
Opening Statement
"I am proud of this team for making it to twenty wins so quickly. That shows a lot about the heart of this team, their character and how hard they have worked. Today, I liked where we were on the defensive side in the first half. That is an area we have been trying to improve. In the second half, we definitely had our lapses and lost some concentration. The biggest thing is just to keep our focus and intensity for forty minutes."

On the defense
"That is an area where our focus cannot be there anymore than it is already. They made strides against UVA and they have to be able to do that consistently across the boards."

On the first half
"After the first media timeout I liked where our leadership was. We were a little flat to start the game and we really started to pick up our defense and our defense translates to our offense. The ownership I saw that take place in the first half I would like to see that follow into the second half. I would like to see us keep that same intensity."

On Ashleigh Newman
"I loved to see the kind of floor game that Ashleigh had today. She made smart decisions. I already know that Ashleigh is one of the toughest defensive players we have out there. When she completes her game like she did tonight she's so much fun to watch on both sides of the court."

Forward Marissa Coleman
On the defense
"It is something that we can control; we will do it for one game and then the next game we will fall off. We need to work on getting more consistent with it if we want to get back to where we were last year."

Guard Ashleigh Newman
On her play
"My main focus is definitely coming off the bench and being able to build the confidence of the team. The main focus for me is defense and when my offense is on that is just an added bonus."

Wake Forest Head Coach Mike Petersen
Comments on the game
"I thought we played pretty well in the second half. We shot 18 percent in the first half, and 45 percent in the second half. We took about the same quality of shots, but we just made shots in the second half. At the end of the day that's what this game comes down to. That's one of the reasons Maryland is such a good team, because they make open shots."

Wake Forest Sophomore Guard Yolanda Lavender
On facing number 3 Maryland
"There was no intimidation. I just missed easy, normal shots in the first half. In the second half I came out and I hit a few, but I wish more went down."
