GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland junior goalie Allie Buote has been named the ACC Player of the Week, announced today by the conference office. Buote had a career week in the cage for the Terrapins in wins against No. 13 Johns Hopkins and No. 1 North Carolina.

Buote racked up a career high 14 saves in Maryland's 22-15 win against Johns Hopkins on March 21. She topped her previous best of 12 stops against Georgetown in 2006. Buote then led the Terps to an 8-6 win against the previously unbeaten Tar Heels on March 24 at Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium.

Buote was credited with 13 saves in the win with two of them coming at critical moments with under two minutes left in the game. She kicked away an Erica LaGrow free position opportunity with 1:52 left and then saved a point-blank shot by Meg Freshwater with 50 seconds left to seal the win for Maryland.

Buote's 27 saves last week were the most of any two-game stretch she has had while at Maryland. Her previous best was 21 which she did twice last year.

Buote and the Terps (8-1, 3-1 ACC) host Stanford on Wednesday, March 28 at the Lacrosse & Field Hockey Complex. The game is set for 3:00 p.m. and will be televised nationally by CSTV.
