No. 21 Terrapins Defeat New Hampshire, 63-43

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 21st-ranked Maryland women's basketball team beat New Hampshire, 63-43, Monday night, led by Tianna Hawkins' 15 rebounds and Diandra Tchatchouang's 17 points. Maryland claimed the first meeting between the two teams in over 25 years.

Tchatchouang led all scorers, while Lynetta Kizer added 11 points and six steals. Dara Taylor scored 10 and added five assists in the contest. The Terps (2-0) forced the Wildcats (1-1) into 21 turnovers and out-rebounded them, 58-42.

Maryland jumped out to an early lead, which grew to 12-0 at the first official timeout five minutes into the game. New Hampshire cut the lead to three just before the half. The Terps led 26-20 at the break.

Coming out of halftime, Maryland pushed its lead to 12 in the first few minutes and never looked back. The Terrapins' lead grew to as much as 22 in the final minutes, before ending up at 63-43.

Amy Simpson paced New Hampshire with 11 points.

The Terrapins continue their busy week Thursday night when they host Old Dominion at 7 p.m. before heading south to take on Mississippi State Sunday at 3 p.m.
