Team Records and Series Notes
• Maryland improves to 10-2, while Stony Brook falls to 2-9.
• This was the first meeting for the two teams in school history and was also the first game of the annual Terrapin Classic tournament.
• Maryland extended their program-record home court winning streak to 45 wins. The last time Maryland dropped a game at home was Feb. 18, 2007 to Duke, 68-57.
• Maryland returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 29 against North Carolina-Wilmington at 7 p.m. ET. The game is the last of three in the Terrapin Classic hosted by the Terps from Dec. 27-29. Stony Brook will face off against UNC-Wilmington on Monday, Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. Tickets for games over the holidays are half price including the Terrapin’s Jan. 3 game against Saint Joseph’s.
Team Game Notes
• Line-up: Dara Taylor, Lynetta Kizer, Tianna Hawkins, Kim Rodgers, Diandra Tchatchouang. This is the first time Maryland has used this lineup. The Terps started three freshmen for the first time this season.
• Key run: Maryland scored the first eight points of the game and led the Seawolves by as many as 32 points. A 13-0 run sparked by an SBU foul and made free throw by Diandra Tchatchouang in the middle of the first half solidified the Terps’ lead.
• Maryland allowed only 20 points by Stony Brook in the first 20 minutes, tying a first half low for opponents. North Carolina Central and New Hampshire also only scored 20 points in the first half.
• Stony Brook was the Terps’ fifth opponent this season held under 50 points. All but one opponent have been unable to score more than 70 points.
• The Seawolves were the Terrapins’ fourth opponent to turn the ball over 20 times. Maryland has forced at least ten turnovers in every game. The Terps have scored 206 points off opponents’ miscues this season.
• Lynetta Kizer and Diandra Tchatchouang were in double-digits before the end of the half with 10 and 13 points, respectively. Kizer finished with 13 points and Tchatchouang recorded 17 points. Freshman Jackie Nared posted a career-best 15 and senior Lori Bjork added 16. Maryland has had at least two players score double-digits in all but one game this season. They are 10-1 when multiple players record double-figure points. In seven games this season, four Terps have scored in double digits.
• Maryland won the battle on the boards, 55-36, and has out-rebounded their opponent in all games except one (at Mississippi State, 42-41).
Individual Game Notes
• Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer had her 12th career and second consecutive double-double against the Seawolves with 13 points and 10 boards.
• Freshman forward Diandra Tchatchouang has scored in double-digits in 10 of the Terps’ 12 games this season, including the last seven games. She was the game’s leading scorer with 17 points and seven rebounds.
• Freshman Jackie Nared had a perfect first half hitting all three of her shots from the field, including one three-pointer. She also hit both her free throws, grabbed three rebounds, dished out one assist and grabbed one steal. Nared finished with a career-high 15 points.
• Freshman forward Tianna Hawkins earned her second career start and pulled down 13 rebounds. She has grabbed double-figure boards in five games including two straight.
• Senior guard Lori Bjork hit four three’s in tonight’s contest for the third time this season. She went 6-for-12 from the field and scored 16 points total.
