COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland 94, Virginia 78

Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese

On tonight's game:
"I was really, really proud of our team. This game actually felt like a heavyweight match as opposed to a basketball game. I just loved the toughness that we showed, especially going down the stretch in the second half. I thought we did a tremendous job on Wright and Mohammed and Littles; they're very difficult match-ups. I thought we did a tremendous job making them have to work for the shots that they took. I just thought that collectively, we did a really nice job finding each other and being in sync on the offensive end."

On seniors Kristi Toliver and Marissa Coleman:
"What I love seeing is just how they're playing with each other. They mean so much to this program. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about the fact that they're going to be graduating soon. To see them come full circle with their leadership, I was so proud of what they were saying tonight in the huddles. They willed this team and they understand each and every game and how important it is."

Maryland Senior Marissa Coleman

On being second all-time on the Maryland scoring list:
"It means a lot, but I think mostly it's a credit to all the great players I've played with since I've been here. Playing with Crystal [Langhorne], Laura [Harper], Shay [Doron] and all those great players that really opened it up for me those three years. I think more than that right now, I'm just trying to focus on getting this ACC regular-season title and get some championships before I head out of here."

On the team's defense on Virginia's Lyndra Littles tonight:
"Coach [Frese] challenged all of us with our defense and Dr. [Debbie] Yow herself even challenged us with our defense, so we were really taking that to heart and just trying to limit her touches. We didn't want her to go off and get 30 again."

Virginia head coach Debbie Bryan

On the game:
"They are a very explosive offensive team and we didn't keep up with them during parts of the second half, and that was the difference in the game. We did the same thing to them in Charlottesville, it was the mirror image of what happened."

On Maryland guard Kristi Toliver and forward Marissa Coleman:
"Toliver and Coleman had outstanding games and we didn't do much to defend them. Sometimes we didn't match them up with the right people. Sometimes we didn't match up with them at all."

On the rivalry with Maryland:
"It's great that we can come in here and garner the respect of Maryland. The last few years, we were a team that they didn't have to try really hard to beat. But you have to play us now because we can beat you on any given night. It's back to being a really good rivalry. Coming to Charlottesville, it's not easy to beat us there and it's not easy to beat Maryland here. It's a great rivalry. Maryland is extremely talented and it's always fun to play against a team that is very talented."

On all the players from Washington DC:
"This is a hotbed in the country to recruit. The best players in the country are from here. I should have an apartment here."
