COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland 67, Rutgers 47
Postgame Notes
- With the win, Maryland extends its home winning streak to 32 consecutive games, dating back to the beginning of the 2007-08 season. Maryland has not lost a regular season out-of-conference home game since December 3, 2003, an 82-65 loss to Penn State. That is a span of 44 games.
- The attendance of 12,861 is the highest at Comcast Center this season. It is the ninth-highest attendance in ACC history, eclipsed only by eight other Maryland home contests (seven at Comcast Center, one at Cole Field House). Coming into today, Maryland lead the conference with an average of 7,216 fans a game.
- The Terps held Rutgers to 24.7 percent from the field for the game. That marks the lowest field goal percentage by a Maryland opponent this season. The previous low was 28.6 percent by Loyola (Md.).
- In addition, Maryland held Rutgers to 18.9 percent from the field in the first half as the Terrapins claimed a 30-19 halftime lead. It was the second time this year the Terps have held an opponent under 20 percent shooting in a half (UCLA, 18.2 percent in the first half).
- Rutgers scored 47 total points, just one more than the fewest scored by a Terrapin opponent this season (46 by Delaware State).
- Marah Strickland made her first start since January 8 against Wake Forest and her 12th of the season. She started 36 of 37 games last year as a freshman.
- Marissa Coleman finished with 22 points, the third straight game in which she has put up at least 20 points. It is the first time in her career that she has put together three consecutive 20+ point contests.
- Coleman added 10 rebounds for her 33rd career double-double, the most by any active ACC player.
- With those 22 points, Marissa Coleman broke a tie for 20th with North Carolina's Tresa Brown (1981-84) and eclipsed Clemson's Chrissy Ford (2000-03) for 19th all time on the ACC's scoring list. Coleman now has 1,953 points in her career.
- Coleman also continues her climb up the conference's rebounding chart. With her 10 boards, the senior now has 1,017 in her career, passing La'Tangela Atkinson (2003-06) of North Carolina for 16th place all time.
- Coleman went 12-14 from the charity stripe, the third consecutive game in which she has attempted at least ten free throws.
- Kristi Toliver moved into the ACC's 25 most-prolific scorers of all time with her 18 points. Toliver now has 1,856 for her career and sits in 25th place, passing Tammie Reiss (1989-92) of Virginia.
- Toliver's 18 points provided the 14th straight double-digit scoring game for the senior All-American. Toliver's career record is an 18-game streak spanning two seasons, from February 8, 2007 until November 30, 2008.
