Maryland 77, Duke 59
With the win, Maryland extends its home winning streak to 33 consecutive games. The Terrapins have not lost at Comcast Center since the finale of the 2006-07 season.
Tonight's attendance of 16,344 is the fourth highest in Atlantic Coast Conference history. With the crowd, Maryland now has hosted each of the 10 highest-attended ACC games in conference history.
Maryland opened the second half on a 10-0 run, fueled by seniors Marissa Coleman and Kristi Toliver. Each scored five points, with the duo knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to bring the crowd to its feet and force Duke to call a timeout.
Combined, Coleman and Toliver scored the first 27 points of the second half for Maryland before Marah Strickland hit four consecutive points.
With the victory, the Terps' seniors are the winningest class in school history, improving to 118-18 in their Maryland careers, an .868 winning percentage.
Marissa Coleman's 24 points give her 2,000 in her career. She is just the second Terp to reach that mark, and the eighth player in ACC history to record 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Coleman's 24 points also gave her at least 20 points for the fifth straight game. Prior to this stretch, she had never had 20 points in more than two consecutive contests.
Going 7-for-9 from the line, the game did end a run of four straight games in which Coleman has shot at least 10 free throws.
Coleman added 10 rebounds to post her 34th career double-double, tops among active ACC players.
The game was Coleman's 135th as a Terp, tying Crystal Langhorne for third place all time in games played.
Kristi Toliver finished with 34 points, just one shy of her career high and a new team season-high. The effort tied for the seventh-highest scoring game in Maryland history.
Toliver hit 7-of-13 3-point shots, finishing one trey shy of her own school record for made 3-pointers in a game.
Toliver's seven 3-pointers give her 71 for the season. That sets a new Maryland senior record, surpassing the 69 poured in by Tiffany Brown in 2000. Toliver is now seven shy of her own record for the most 3-pointers in any season by a Terp. She owns four of the top five single-season marks for 3-pointers in Maryland history.
With the 34 points, Toliver became the fourth Terp ever to reach 1,900 points. She sits at 1,901 career points.
The Terrapins' senior duo finished the game with a combined 58 points, just one fewer than the Blue Devils' squad compiled on the day.
Junior Demauria Liles finished a bucket shy of a double-double. She led all players with 11 rebounds, adding eight points and three blocks.
Freshman Lynetta Kizer scored just three points, but dominated the interior on the defensive end, recording a personal-best four blocked shots.
